Beyond the Symptoms
Public Class

Understanding Your Body Through Chinese Medicine
Your body is constantly communicating with you.

What We’ll Explore

We’ll look at health through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine while connecting those ideas to familiar concepts involving the nervous system, inflammation, digestion, food, sleep, stress, and everyday life.

Topics will include:

  • The Five Elements of Chinese Medicine and how different systems of the body relate to one another

  • Why the location of a symptom may not always be where the problem begins

  • The difference between addressing an immediate symptom and looking for the pattern underneath it

  • Survival mode vs. healing mode and how the nervous system can affect digestion, sleep, pain, energy, and recovery

  • How your individual genetics, environment, routines, relationships, and psychological load can influence how your body responds

  • Food as information rather than a rigid list of “good” and “bad” foods

  • The traditional Chinese medicine relationship between emotions and organ systems, including frustration and the Liver, worry and the Spleen/Stomach, grief and the Lung, and fear and the Kidney system

  • Practical ways to start observing your own patterns and experimenting with what helps

Pain, fatigue, poor sleep, digestive changes, irritability, tension, cravings, overwhelm, and other symptoms do not always exist as isolated problems. Sometimes they are clues—pieces of a larger pattern.

At Embodied Wellness, one of the first things we do with new patients is change the lens through which we look at health. Instead of asking only, “How do we make this symptom stop?”, we also ask, “Why might this be happening, and what is the body trying to tell us?” The goal is curiosity, experimentation, and helping you become an active participant in understanding your own body.

For the first time since last year, Nerea is bringing this conversation back into the community with a two-hour public class.

This class is educational and is not intended to diagnose or treat an individual medical condition.

This Is Not Another List of Things You “Should” Do

There is no perfect diet, perfect routine, or single set of rules that works for every person.

The purpose of this class is to give you a wider lens for understanding your health and help you become more curious about how your own body responds. We form a hypothesis, try something small, observe the response, and use that information to decide what makes sense next.

Who Is This Class For?

Everyone is welcome.

You do not need to be an Embodied Wellness patient to attend. Current patients are encouraged to bring spouses, family members, friends, or anyone who has ever thought:

“My tests say everything is fine, but I still don’t feel like myself.”
